Released on 26 August 1963, the Holden EH quickly became one of Australia’s most iconic cars, with a record-breaking 256,959 units sold. Its combination of a brand-new, more powerful engine, smart styling updates, and an affordable price tag of just $2,102 made it unbeatable value for money. The EH’s instant popularity cemented its reputation as Australia’s fastest-selling car ever.

At its heart was the all-new “red engine”, available in both 149 and 179 versions. Compared to the older “grey engine,” the red delivered up to 50% more power, while being smoother, more efficient, and longer lasting. In fact, many EHs easily exceeded 130,000km before requiring major servicing, outclassing competitors of the time.

The EH range was extensive, with 24 variants across five models – the Standard, Special, Premier, Coupe Utility, and Panel Van. For the first time, buyers could also enjoy the luxury of the Premier Station Wagon. Holden even dipped into motorsport with the EH S4 sports model, produced in limited numbers (just 126 built). Fitted with the powerful 179 engine and manual transmission, the S4 reached speeds of up to 110mph in the hands of racing greats like Dick Johnson and Norm Beechey.

Whether for everyday driving, towing (a growing pastime of the 1960s), or modification, the EH appealed to Australians from all walks of life. It was affordable, reliable, economical, stylish – and above all, a car that earned its place as a true Australian classic.

This 1/18 diecast model includes a Certificate of Authentication and your model's production number plate, mounted to the chassis.

  • Finely moulded front grille with individual slats. Note the in-fill of black on the Holden lettering, true to the original.
  • Boot interior simple, but open side wall reveals fuel filler pipe feeding the under floor tank.
  • Including a beautiful steering wheel and instrument cluster on a Dartford Grey dash. Under the dash is a demarcation line between floor covering and fire wall.
  • Interior features two-toned bench seats, embossed vinyl flooring, aluminium silver tread plates and much more...
  • Detailed engine and surrounding bay that looks just as good as the original. Purpose built metal hinges that are sprung for that realistic look and feel.
  • The front chassis shows the engine sump, exhaust system and working suspension. The front wheels are even linked to the steering wheel.
  • Underside detail, like fuel tank and drivetrain are a distinguishing feature of Classic Carlectables models.
  • The well detailed chassis features the etched metal limited edition production number.
  • Limited Edition of 750.

        Our Shipping Costs, barring single trading cards, are based on the weight and size of items.

        Add items to your cart with confidence, knowing that the final shipping cost will be within the standard cost for shipping goods with AusPost. If the shipping you pay is excessive to the actual cost, we will refund the difference when processing your order.

        Shipping on single trading cards is a flat $5.50 regardless of how many single cards you add to your cart! Parcels within Oz range from $11.50 to $34 depending on the size and weight of the order. International shipping rates are calculated at Checkout.
